FIRST OLD TIME SUNDAY FESTIVAL "LEB I VINO", Spatovo 2008
Organized by Art Formation Leb i Vino and adherents
31 August 2008, Sunday, the site Igrishteto, Spatovo village, Sandanski Municipality
2008 CONCEPT:
- In the past the goal of the Bulgarian choreographers and folklorists was to put the folklore art on stage. Now, in year 2008, we are asking: How to take this art off the stage and bring it closer to the people?
- Removing the boundaries between performer and audience, that are so popular nowadays. It will help the audience to accept this traditional culture in a new and different way.
- An event, spiritually and visually closer to the past, that will take the participants back in time. The aim is the elderly people to recollect the values, lifestyle and culture of their ancestors, and the younger - to join in, feel and remember their mood.
- A traditional gathering, uniting the participants, who communicate in a simple and unprejudiced manner with the help of music, songs, dancing and food. The most unique performers in the region will be awarded.
- Attracting investments to the region`s traditions, in the form of awards or financial aid for the participants. The goal is to invest (even a little amount in the beginning) in the folklore and handicrafts, to create opportunities for developing, popularizing and extending traditions, i.e. survival mainly of the character type, values and mentallity.
- The festival will draw a ballance of the whole Lebivino activity to this moment, it is an invitation for taking interest in the problems of source folklore and its functions in modern society. Special participants are all the presenters of source folklore, from whom Lebivino draw their inspiration and knowledge.
